Valley Vista Swim Team also known as the Barracudas, offers a summer swimming program for youth between the ages of 4 and 18. Our goal is to provide a superior program for all swimmers, from the youngest to oldest and the beginner to the county qualifier. We work together to achieve team success and measure personal success in terms of personal improvement. When the swimmer improves their performance and has a feeling of accomplishment, everyone wins! The Valley Vista Swim (VVST) is one of seven teams in the Contra Costa Valley Swim Conference (CCVSC). The other teams in our league are Woodlands, Forest Park, Pinole, Ygnacio Wood, Brentwood and Antioch. The swimmers participate in time trials, dual meets, invitationals and non-league meets. TheCuda Program is designed for those new swimmers not yet able to swim 25 yards unassisted. It is a 6 week program that offers 30 minutes of small group instruction, 5 days a week. Instruction is given in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke kick. Our goal is to support and encourage our young swimmers while helping them build the skills required to participate in a swim team workout.
Those of you new to swimming and swim team will find that swimming is truly a rewarding sport. It is an activity that a child can participate in his/her entire lifetime. It combines the qualities of an individual sport with those of a team sport. Workouts are designed to include specific goals and objectives. Stroke technique is emphasized. We don't just swim 'laps'! The swimmer is encouraged to master stroke technique, gain strength and endurance, be self-disciplined, set realistic time goals and non-time goals and develop good sportsmanship. We believe summer swimming should be fun! Our program includes everything: swim meets, games, breakfasts, barbecues, group outings, children's activities, family functions, awards and incentives.
